Allie C. Brendell

Mrs. Brendell was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late John Lewis and Mary Leatherwood Chambers. She had lived in Buncombe County for the last 70 years and retired in 1973 from the American Enka Co. She was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. She was married for 68 years to Fred D. Brendell, Sr., who died in 1999.

Surviving are three sons Fred D. Brendell, Jr. and his wife Kitty of Waynesville, John L. Brendell and his wife Joyce of Candler, and Owen E. Brendell and his wife Cheryl of Hendersonville; a daughter, Mary Brendell Clevinger of Candler; seven grandchildren, David, Janna, Brad, Billy, Stephanie, Thomas and Tammy; a great-grandson, Benjamin; a sister, Cora Chambers of Waynesville, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
