Alma Louise Whetstine Smith, 82, of Malakoff, TX, died on Saturday, August 19, 2017. A native of Spruce Pine, Louise was a daughter of the late Fred and Ada Grindstaff Whetstine. She was also preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Joyce Coleman and husband Timmie, of Malakoff; son, Glenn Smith and wife Patsy of Candler; grandchildren, Wendy Reece, of Malakoff, Timothy Reece and wife Beverly, of Canton, Joey Smith, of Candler, and Glenn Smith, Jr., of Florida; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton, Destiny, Joycelynn and Lawson; brothers, Howard and Franklin; and sister, Genevive The funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. Pastor Betty Drake will officiate. Interment will follow at Browns View United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

  2. I will miss her so much. She was my best friend as well as a loving sister.We became very close the past 20 years traveling or just hanging out we always enjoyed it. Now she is in heaven with other love ones and I know that she is happy. So love ones left behind trust the Lord Jesus as your savoir and we will all see her again.

  3. We are so sorry to hear about Louise. I always thought a lot of all of your family when we got to see you when me and Steve visited with grandma Locie. Everyone has scattered out but I still wonder how all of you are. Is any of the family still in Smith Cove besides Benny?
