  1. Dear Family,
We were so sorry to see that Miss Alta had died, but, rejoice with you that she no longer suffers and is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! She was a joy to know and be around. We will be praying for all of you. May God preserve all those good memories of her and may He continue to give you His strength and peace, now and in the days to come.

  2. What an honor and pleasure it was to work with Alta at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC. She was an important part of the work of many who were a part of the FBI’s executive leadership during her FBI career. She will be missed by many, but I am thankful to read of her faith in her obituary and know that she is with her Lord.

  3. Dear Family,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Alta. I had the honor of working with her during her FBI career. She was a dedicated professional and pleasure to know. Her sense of humor was always appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Robert M. Reilley

  4. Dear Nancy, Mary, Donna, and Allen – we were heartbroken to hear of Alta’s passing and will always remember her kindness and generosity to everyone she met. If anyone was ever in need Alta was always willing to cook a complete meal or take whatever was needed to that person. We know the food pantry at our Church was her passion and the good works that you all did has fed many people. I don’t think we’ve ever met anyone as charitable. She will truly be missed at Fletcher First Baptist Church and especially in our Sunday School class. We will pray that God will give all of you the peach to through the days ahead.

  5. Correction: (last line) We will pray that God will give all of you the peace to get through the days ahead.

  6. So sorry for your loss of Alta. She was a dear, lovely lady. We were so glad
to have been acquainted with her at church. She is truly at home now. Our prayers go out to you this week to give you comfort and peace in the new few days ahead.

  7. To the Southers’ Family,
On behalf of the Metro Chapter of the Society of FBI Alumni, Inc., I would like to add our sincere condolences on the passing of Alta. She was a loyal and dedicated member of the Metro Chapter and an inspiration to many. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. She was a force of faith, perseverance, resilience, and love who leaves these traits as a legacy to all who she touched. May she rest in peace!

  8. I went to Logan High School with Alta.what a sweet girl, did come in contact with her brother Lovell when he came to bank where I worked in West Columbia,SC and he told me she never married and was doing good. We graduated together, if any of family would like to friend me on Facebook I would like that. I am so sorry for your loss but Heaven gained another angel.

  9. I am sorry to hear of the passing of Alta. I have very fond memories of her and her sisters, Nancy and Mary. I had the pleasure of working with all three of them many years ago in the Director’s Office of the FBI. Alta was very kind to me and I think about here from time to time. Nancy and Mary, Please accept my condolences.

  10. I was a member with the Southers sisters at First Baptist Church in Springfield, VA. They were very kind to me, especially Mary, at loss of my wife in 1985. So sorry to learn of the passing of Alta. They are truly special friends and are still being missed through memories of those golden times…..Lew Tagliaferre
