Alvin Eugene Rich

Alvin Eugene Rich, 70, of 676 Macedonia Road, Asheville, died Monday, October 25, 2004, in an Asheville hospital. A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late Homer and Betsy Smith Rich and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Rich who died July 26, 1995, and by a brother Albert Rich. He was a former metal finisher and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Davis Rich; two daughters Dorothy Francis of East Flat Rock and Shirley Ward and her husband Jeremy of Leicester; one son Kevin Rich and his wife Robin of Fairview; stepsons Edward Ray Worley of Charlotte, Randy Worley and his wife Robbie of Marshall, and a step-daughter Karen Lewis Pressley and her husband Jamie of Asheville; a sister Sue Tysinger and her husband Ed of Lexington; brothers Clyde, Robert, Ernest, Harley, Jon, Millard and Curly Rich, all of Lexington; grandchildren Jonathan Worley, Jessica Worley, Samantha Worley, Kristi Worley, Brittany White, Brandi White, Kelsey Ward, Delana Ward, Carrie Rich, Danny Gridley, Sean Gridley and Michelle Dasher; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Woody Ledford, Sr. and Woody Ledford, Jr. officiating. His family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of Shirley Ward, 28 Bittersweet Trail, Leicester.
