Ann Douglas Bowers Mitchell, 72, of 1 Sunset Dr., Asheville, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Mitchell was a daughter of the late John Linder and Floride H. Bowers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Mitchell, who died in 2003. A native of Lancaster, SC, she lived for 70 years in Buncombe County. Mrs. Mitchell retired as Chief Financial Officer of Accounting and controller at Mills Manufacturing after 33 years. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and Christian. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her sons, John Mitchell and wife Jennifer, and their son Justin, of Asheville, and Doug Mitchell and wife Cathie, and their children, Dylan, Adam and wife Jennifer, and Becca, of Leicester; sister, Rebecca Hunnicutt and husband William E.; niece Leigh, her husband Chuck, and their children, Charlie and Shelby; and nephew, Scott; sister-in-law, Fannie Mitchell Worley and husband Warren D. and their children, Jeff Worley, and Cheryl and husband Jerry, and their son Mitchell. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating and music provided by Dylan Mitchell, Rev. Donald N. Welborn, and Angie Hawkins. Interment will follow Pisgah View Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Worley, Adam Wharton, Chuck Armentrout, Charlie Armentrout, Scott Hunnicutt, Dylan Mitchell, and Justin Mitchell. Her family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund, 200 Mt. Carmel Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, or to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC, 28813.
