Anna Lee McAbee Herren 72, of 139 Bradshaw Circle, Candler, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Herren was born in Henderson County and was preceded in death by her mother, Bertie Weaver, a daughter, Janet Faye Herren, a sister, Wanda Siefert, and a brother, Floyd Howie. She served as a bus driver for the Buncombe County School System for over 30 years. Surviving are her husband, James E. Herren; two daughters, Judith Herren and Kathy Russell, both of Candler; four grandchildren, Casey Herren, Brody Herren, Kelly Russell and Bruce Russell; one great-grandson, Colby Herren; a sister, Evelyn Bradburn of Asheville and a brother, Junior Howie of Michigan. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Betty Drake officiating. Burial will be at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Your mother was a very sweet and caring person and she took care of me when I rode her bus during the 8 years I was at Candler School.
