Anni F. Schwander

Anni F. "Omi" Schwander, 81, formerly of Candler, died September 11 in a Hendersonville healthcare facility. She was born December 7, 1922 in Germany and was a daughter of the late Richard and Frieda Gottschling . She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Michael Schwander and a sister, Lotte Wicke. Mrs. Schwander was a member of the Asheville German Luncheon Group and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Morris and her husband Chad of Etowah and Frances Lance and her husband Christopher of Fletcher and five grandchildren, Sheryl Stefanik, Evan Lance, Morgan Lance, Christopher Morris and Jesse Morris. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Tuesday at 10:30 AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with Father Roger Arnsparger officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher. A rosary will be said at 6:00 PM on Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where the family will receive friends until 8:00 PM.
