Annis A. Poland

Annis A. Poland, 101, of Asheville, NC passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Ora Lambert and Flora Flynt Lambert and her husband, Robert L. Poland. She is survived by her sons Thomas, Philip, and Stephen, and her granddaughters Laura and Kristina.

She attended Franklin College in Franklin, IN, graduating in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and was elected to Theta Sigma Phi woman’s journalism honorary. Beginning in 1948 she worked as a reporter at the Palladium-Item in Richmond, IN, until 1958. She was married January 25, 1958 to Robert L. Poland of Dayton, KY, and the couple lived there until 1960 when they moved to Richmond.

During her life she was a beloved mother and homemaker and was also a freelance writer of light verse, fiction, and poetry. Her work was published in numerous national magazines.

A small family memorial will be planned for the spring.
