Arnold Edward Harris, of Candler, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

He was born to the late William Adam Harris and Lula Barnes Harris. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma Marie (Lovin) Harris; and a sister, Christine Moses.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Edward Harris (Joe Ann) and Mark “Kevin” Harris (Connie); one daughter, Sandra “Kay” Long (Ed); a grandson, Nathan Harris (Elizabeth); and a sister, Barbara Cope.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harris retired from the BASF Enka Manufacturing plant where he worked as a machine operator.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

The funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 18, 2024, in the Chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, prior to the service.

If so desired a donation may be made in his memory to the Buncombe County Humane Society, Asheville, NC.
