Arden – Arona Frances "Mimi" Kelley, 87, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Kelley was a native of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late W.C. Hensley Sr. and Nettie Foster Hensley. She was also preceded in death by her former husband of almost 30 years, Richard Kelley; a son, Robert "Tony" Kelley; two sisters, Evelyn Smithwick and Thelma Parsons and one brother, Wayne Hensley.
Mrs. Kelley was employed with CTS for most of her working career but in her later years she enjoyed working as a Wal-Mart greeter where she met many new friends. She was also a proud graduate of Haw Creek School.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Moore and her husband, Gary, of Arden; two sons, Ronnie Kelley of Arden and Mike Kelley and his wife, Monica, of Greenville, SC; five brothers, W.C. "Dash" Hensley Jr. and his wife, Helen, Donald Hensley and his wife, Ann, Kenneth Hensley and his wife, Sherry, Jack Hensley and his wife, Marje and Roger Hensley and his wife, Karen; a sister-in-law, Sandy Hensley; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Dash Hensley officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 204 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28804
