Audrey Jane Hope Dean, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Audrey was the daughter of the late Everett W. Hope and Helen Blalock Hope. She grew up in Seattle and married her husband, Wilburn "Bill" Dean, in 1950. They later had twins Robert and Deborah.
Through the years, Audrey and Bill managed hotels, motels, and restaurants in various cities from Philadelphia to Seattle, spending most of their time in California and Arizona. Bill died in 1979, and Audrey continued to manage motels and apartments after his death.
Audrey moved to North Carolina in 2006 to be closer to her son and his wife. She lived at Trinity View in Arden for the past 6 years.
Audrey enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking, being in nature, and above all, her twins. She is survived by her children, Robert (Ann) of Asheville and Deborah Lewy (David) of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, William and Allison Dean and Devis Lewy; and two great-grandchildren, Avriee and Harlee Dean.
The Dean family would like to thank the caregivers at Trinity View, Dr. William Hamilton, Rometta Weaver, and Four Seasons Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Audrey.
A private family gathering is planned for later this month in Seattle.
Because Audrey loved teaching underprivileged children, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to New City Christian School, P.O. Box 9035, Asheville, NC 28815 in memory of Audrey Dean.
