Benjamin Franklin Miller, 79, of 39 Leslie Miller Road, Candler, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in an Asheville hospital. Mr. Miller was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Leslie H. and Minnie B. Helton Miller. He was married to Vivian Warren Miller who died in June of 2000, and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Marvin Leslie Miller and an infant daughter, Mary Ann Miller. He was a retired self-employed brickmason and was an avid fisherman and beekeeper. He was a member and loyal worker at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church. He was also active with the Methodist Mens Camp. He is survived by two daughters, Marie Rice and Wanda Baird of Candler; a son, Frank Miller of Candler; two brothers, Leslie M. (Don) Miller and Oliver Miller of Candler; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. H.D. Houck and Bennie Wade officiating. Burial will be at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Charlie Rice, Marty Baird, Danny Everidge, Nathan Rice and Scott Jackson. His family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
