Arden ~ Barbara A. Melton, of Arden died on Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. She is now spending her first Christmas in heaven. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Tony R. And Lillian Mae Reed Hensley and was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Melton in 1986. She was a member of the Cornerstone Alliance Church in Asheville. She is survived by her daughter, Karen R. Vojtech and husband Robert; two sons, Michael Randall and Jeffrey S. Gillespie and wife Dianna C. all of Arden; three grandchildren, Ryan S. Gillespie, Adam Vojtech, Eric S. Gillespie; two sisters, Pauline Whittemore of Asheville and Verna Murray of Mt. Dora, FL; two brothers, Tony and Charles Hensley both of Asheville; a niece, who cared for Mrs. Melton during her illness, Terry Morgan of Asheville and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Cornerstone Alliance Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Hober and Rev. George C. Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Monday at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Care of WNC, 445 Biltmore Center, suite 100, Asheville, NC 28801, Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813 or to Cornerstone Alliance Church, 12 South French Broad Ave. Asheville, NC 28801. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road is in charge of arrangements.

  4. Mike, Karen and families, I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I know how much she meant to all of you. I also know that she was a wonderful Christian woman and is now enjoying her rewards with our Father. In the days to come, this assurance will help to comfort you and make it easier to bear your sorry. But in time, we will all be reunited with our loved ones.
