Barbara Ann Kando

Mrs. Kando was born in Hungary and was a daughter of the late Francis and Maria Almasy Szechenyi.  She was a graduate of St. Genevieve’s High School, a former secretary with American Enka, and more recently a resident of Delaware. She attended St. Lawrence and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Churches.

She is survived by her son, Michael F. Kando of Budapest, Hungary;  three sisters, Mary Zichy of Asheville, Cornelia Szele of Virginia, and Susie Kramers of Arden;  two brothers, Laszlo Szechenya of Florida and Matthew Szechenya of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Rite will be at noon Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with the Rev. John
Pagel officiating.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Greentree Ridge or to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of the service.
