Barbara Deibert, 74 of Asheville, North Carolina, died August 21, 2006. She was born September 1, 1931 to the late Donald and Ruth Drummond of Vera Beach, Florida. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Irv Deibert of Asheville; son, Donald Deibert of Asheville; son, Richard Deibert and his wife Elizabeth of Bradenton, Florida, and four grandchildren, Emily, Catherine, Andrew, and Rebecca. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held in St. Giles Chapel in the Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, preceded by a family graveside service in the churchyard of Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher, North Carolina. Rev. Morgan Gardner, chaplain of Deerfield, and Rev. Ashley Crowder Stanley, pastor of Biltmore United Methodist Church will officiate at both services. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorials to three of Barbara's beloved charities: Lewis Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803; Biltmore United Methodist Church, 376 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803; John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center (Mountain Area Hospice), P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
