Barbara Henderson Duckett Wells, 80, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2000 in a local nursing facility. She was born August 5, 1919 in Buncombe County, and was a daughter of the late Ralph and Carrie Henderson Duckett. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Edward Wells and a brother Ralph Gordon Duckett, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Query and husband Fred of Kannapolis, NC. Barbara devoted her life to being a loving mother to five boys and four girls. Daughters, Carol Boyle and husband Alex of Swansboro, NC, Janice Ambrose and husband Robert of Virginia Beach, VA, Nancy Hoglen and husband Larry of Candler, Patsy May and husband David of Edmond, OK. Sons Dan Wells and wife Sundea of Monticello, GA, Bill Wells of Asheville, Don Wells and wife Denise of Leicester, David Wells and wife Doris of Weaverville, Dean Wells of Asheville. Grandchildren, Alan and Cory Boyle, Justin and Amanda Singletary, Pamela Norris, Joseph and Jacob Ambrose, Brian, Brad and Brandon Hoglen, Kerri and Michael May, Justin and Candice Wells, and Chris Morrow; and one great-granddaughter, Anna Boyle. Barbara leaves a legacy of warmth and love behind her. She exhibited a great love of family, unfailing kindness, and a friendly demeanor. Her loved ones celebrate her life with mourning her death. Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Scroggs officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Brick Church Cemetery, Leicester.
