Barbara Irene Johnson Siler

Barbara Irene Johnson Siler, age 87, of Asheville NC, passed away April 3, 2024. She was born December 14, 1936 in Virginia to C.R. and Lottie Johnson. She was surrounded by her friends and family as she moved on from this life.

She was a proud resident of Asheville for the last 50 years. She attended Cary High School and graduated from Hardbarger Business College. She married the love of her life, Ed Siler, in 1954. Their 70 year marriage blessed them with three children and a thriving small business, Siler Rental Enterprises, that they ran together for 40 years.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and sister who brought joy to all those around her. To know Barbara is to know her love for food. It was always one of her greatest passions, whether it was growing it in her garden, canning what she had harvested or making a wonderful meal for her loved ones. You were assured to never leave her home hungry. She was also an avid traveler, camper, and would never pass up a good antique store.

She leaves behind her devoted husband: Ed Siler; daughter: Janet Brady (Willie Brady); Sisters: Sandra Johnson, Pamela Jones (Roger), and Brenda Johnson; grand children: Toby Brady (Catherine), Kelly DuPont (Jeremiah), Jennifer Brady (Jon), Zac Siler, Jeovany Aguilar (Ashley) and Kijara Aguilar; great grand children: Jax Brady, Stella DuPont, Willa DuPont and Thomas Colopy, Daughter in law Tracy Siler; Son in law Oswaldo Aguilar; as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents C.R and Lottie Johnson; siblings: Carl Johnson, Freddie Johnson, and Becky Edmondson; Children: Dolores Aguilar, and Robert Siler.

Our heartfelt thanks to care giver and family member Wanda Hensley. We also want to thank the staff at the Laurels of Summit Ridge for making her stay so memorable, she truly loved their bingo.

The family will welcome visitors at noon on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Groce Funeral Home located at 856 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805, the funeral will follow directly after at 1pm.
