Barbara Payne Dorlan, 59, of Candler, died Saturday, Nov. 28,
1998 at her residence.
A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the
late Albert Payne and Glennie Lunsford Harwood and wife of the
late Howard W. Dorlan who died in 1990. She was also
preceded in death by a brother, Albert Payne.
She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church and a
retired employee of Pritchard Paint & Glass.
She is survived by four daughters, Trina Wilkerson of Flat
Rock, Sharon Sledge and Tammy Arrowood of Candler,
Revonda VanDervert of El Cajon, California; son, Brian Wesley
Dorlan of Candler; three sisters, Louise Moore of Shelby, Nancy
Harris of Swannanoa, Wanda Hollars of Burlington; three
brothers, Monroe Payne of Asheville, Robert Harwood and Larry
Harwood of Enka; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 pm Tuesday in Pole Creek Baptist Church
conducted by the Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller and Rev. Dennis
Thurman. Interment will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Dorlan will
remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
