Beatrice Kerley Pressley, 91, formerly of Fairview, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the Brian Center, Weaverville, following an extended illness. Mrs. Pressley was born in Haywood County December 4, 1913, and was a daughter of the late Manson R. and Margaret Lanning Kerley. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was the wife of Jess Pressley who died in 1983 and was also preceded in death by a son Roy Pressley. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Willie Rowe Pressley and his wife Helen, Raymond Pressley and his wife Betty, Dorothy Dills and Frances Frady, all of Fairview, Katherine Lamonica and her husband John of Weaverville and Virginia Buckner and her husband Ralph of Asheville; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Beatrice was loved by all who knew her and was affectionately known as Miss Bea. Our mother was a very strong woman who had many medical challenges in recent years. She was a very devoted mother who loved her family and sacrificed her whole life for her children. Beatrice was a hard worker, always honest and believed in God. She is now at peace in a home prepared for her by our Savior. We will deeply miss her. She will remain in our hearts forever. Special thanks to the staff of the Brian Center, Weaverville, for their many years of loving care. A funeral service will be held 2:oo p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Royal officiating. Burial will be at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
