Beatrice Wheelon Moore, 89, of Garren Creek Road, Fairview, died peacefully with her family at her bedside at Becky’s Rest Home Monday, October 4, 2004. Mrs. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Hestella Marlow Wheelon. She was married to Horace D. Moore who passed away May 12, 2001. She was also preceded in death by brothers Paul F. Wheelon and Sidney Wheelon, sisters Lillian W. Marlowe and infant Eliza Wheelon. She was a faithful member of Nesbitt’s Chapel United Methodist Church, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Marlowe and her husband Horace and Frances Dill and her husband Jim, all of Fairview; grandchildren Sharon and David Weynard, Bud and Ruth Marlowe, Kathy Marlowe, Michael and Senna Dill, and Steve Dill; great-grandchildren, Bryan and Scott Weynard, Joni and Nikki Marlowe and Braxton and Olyvia Dill; and special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Nesbitt’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phillip Williams, pastor, and the Rev. Robert M. Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. The family would like to express a special “thank-you” to Becky’s Rest Home and their staff for the wonderful care and kindness shown to “Bea” during the past six months. Memorials may be made to Nesbitt’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 50 Kirkpatrick Lane, Fairview, NC 28730, or to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
