Becky Young Warren, 75, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

A native of Haywood Co., Becky was a daughter of the late Frank and Gincy Cairnes Young.

She was a graduate of Enka High School Class of 1965 and earned a degree in a four-year program taking night classes while working at American Enka. She retired from there after 37½ years. She was a former member of the Upper Hominy Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She was also a longtime member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, where she also served as Church Treasurer and instructor of both the knitting class and the Sunday School class for 2nd and 3rd graders.

In her free time, she was a very good cook and an avid gardener famous for her corn.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Ray Eugene “Dean” Warren; brother, Troy Lee Young; and sisters-in-law, Kitty O’Kelley and Wanda Coffey (Donald).

The funeral service for Mrs. Warren will be held at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Pastors Vic Wilfong, Allen Rash, and Brad Parker will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Warren, Brent Blankenship, Mark Davis, Stevie O’Kelley, Ricky Farren, and Buster Crowe. Men of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends for one hour at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, 14 Piney Mountain Church Rd., Candler, NC 28715.

  15. Becky was such a gifted person. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She also had such a kind heart to help anyone young or old. She was a hard worker whether cleaning medical equipment or teaching Sunday School. Her life was such a testimony to her Lord. She will be greatly missed.

  18. I met this sweet lady when she came with her husband to my house many years ago to put up hay in the field above my house. I had just had my second son and she asked if she could come inside and hold the baby. I told her she could and ever since, I have seen them out and about in the community at different times and places. I literally saw her just last week and she told me to come see her. Dean, and family, I am so very sorry for your loss! What a sweet lady! Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers!💛
