Benjamin Alvin Silver

June 2, 1927 ~ May 18, 1999
Mr. Silver was born in Henderson County and was a son of the late Cornelius and Arenthia Laughter Silver. He was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member
and deacon at South Asheville Baptist Church and was retired from Steelcase.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Gillis Silver; two daughters and their husbands, Sandy Silver Rice and Scott Rice of Fletcher and Kimberly Silver Hagler and Charles Hagler of Arden; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Rice, Laura Alyse Rice, and Brittany Lauren Hagler; and a sister, Methel Wyatt of Burnsville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at South Asheville Baptist
Church with the Revs. Don Marlar and Don Penland officiating. Interment will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joshua and Wesley Sutton, Joey and Gene Gillis, Danny Emerson, Michael Silver, John White and Bill Rhew.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to South Asheville

You may not remember me. I am Lucy Messer’s niece. I went with you & your family on a cruise to the Bahamas with Billy Moody. I am so sorry to hear of the long struggle your family has gone through. I am thankful that your husband is now pain-free and with our blessed Savior. May He comfort you all.
