Mr Reese was like a dad to me because I pretty much grew up with Tara and BJ. It was a profound honor to have known Bennie and be able to have enjoyed his smile and laughter. I have never met a kinder soul. He will sorely be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Although we don’t see each other much these days, know that I love you all very much and I have good and lasting memories of Bennie. A very old saying goes ‘The Glory of God is man fully alive.’ If any man was truly alive it was Bennie. God shined through him like the sun. Brenda, he affected me more than you know because he trusted me with your children.
I love you all and my and Barb’s thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the family of Bennie Reese
(Brenda, Tara and Benjamin):
I didn’t really get to know Bennie all that well, but in many ways he has impacted much of what I am currently doing here at WCU. I recently began teaching here at WCU. One of the first groups I looked up was the Young Republicans [AKA College Republicans] here on campus. They are still going strong and thriving. Bennie was a big part of that since he started it some years ago!
As a former legislator [I was honored to serve in the NC House of Representatives (2001-02)], I don’t whether I was prouder of Bennie’s
efforts with the Republicans or with his work at the Billy Graham Training Center. Either way, please
know that he will be missed. Please also accept my apologies for not being able to attend the service. Meanwhile, if there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call upon me. And despite your loss, I hope you can all enjoy the special blessings of this our LORD’s special season.
GOD bless!!!!
Sincerely yours –

Bennie and I were next-door neighbors for many years in Sylva and he served a manager for athletic teams at the old Sylva High School, A good friend and a good man. I’ll miss him.
Bennie and I lived across the street from each other for a time in Sylva. I lived in Little Doc Nichols’ house. We use to play and have a lot of fun together. I’m sorry about his death. John Gibson
