Berlin Norris Woody, Sr., 81, of Candler, NC passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Worth Woodrow Woody and Helen Hensley Woody. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Ball and a sister, Reba Woody.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia Meadows Woody and his children; a son, Barry Woody (Lisa) and a daughter, Caroline Rice (Alan); grandchildren; Loretta Haney (Josh), Arrianne Corbley (Jon), Mikalyla Rhew (Cody), Levi Woody, William Woody, Jonathan Woody, Ava Woody, and Grace Woody; great-grandchildren, Cameron Haney, Ean Rhew, and Lilith Corbley; and a sister, Edna Woody. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Woody served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, December 2, 2024, at the New Hope Baptist Church (26 New Hope Road, Asheville, NC 28804) at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Rev. Jack Gassaway and Rev. Larry Coates will officiate. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Ashelawn Cemetery. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
