Bertha H. Brooks

July 26, 1901 ~ November 17, 1999

Bertha Hix Brooks, 98, formerly of Middlemont Avenue, Asheville, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999, in Morristown, TN.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Banks County, GA, was a daughter of the late
Jacob and Mary Stowe Hix, and was married to J.W. Brooks, who died in 1968. She was well known for her work with young people, especially in the Sunday School Department of Grace Baptist Church, where she was a member.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Ezell and her husband Winfred A.
Ezell, of Morristown; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn E. and Larry Johnson, David and Jeanne Ezell, Sharon E. and Jay Freeman, and Dr. Stephen and Renee Ezell; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. Derrill Smith officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
