Bertha McCarson Godfrey

Bertha McCarson Godfrey, 82, of 286 Starnes Cove Road, died Saturday, January 30, 1999, in Canton, GA.
Mrs. Godfrey was born July 2, 1916 in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late James and Florence Pressley McCarson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Stonewall Jackson Godfrey, who died in 1977. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Pat Marcinko of Canton, GA and Mary Farrell of Midlothion, VA; and a son, Bill Godfrey of Candler; six grandchildren; four sisters, Electa Clark of Leicester, Alice Rogers of Gillcrest, CO., Orva Lee Warren of Rosman, and Jeanette Rogers; three brothers, Jack, Joe and David McCarson all of Candler.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1pm in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30-8 pm at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Starnes Cove Baptist Church, 149 Starnes Cove Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
