Bessie McCain, 70, of 146 W. Oakview Road, Asheville, died Thursday, August 13, 1998. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late William Price and Elizabeth Ramsey Presnell.  She was a member of the Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard McCain; daughter, Peggy Sims of Asheville; two sons, Kenneth and Jerry McCain, both of Asheville; two sisters, Vera Hughes of Burnsville and Florence Woody of Hickory; brother, Virgil Presnell of Burnsville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 am Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Phillip Hurst. Interment will follow in the Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
