A native of Buncombe Co., Betsy was a daughter of the late Clenon Worley and Katherine Worley Rice. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Eddie Shook and by her brothers, Walter and Wesley Worley.

Anyone who knew Betsy can tell you what a unique, bright, and special lady she was. Her laugh was contagious and her love was simply pure. She was a ray of sunshine in our lives and full of so much joy it spilled over on anyone who came in contact with her. To know her was to love her.

Betsy’s love for the Lord, and her family was something you couldn’t help but admire. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was a beacon of light in a world full of darkness and uncertainty

Our sister, mother and Nana was always up for an adventure of some kind. She always knew how to have a good time, and brought the fun with her in any situation. Big hair, big shoes, big smile, big heart, big personality, she was always living large in all the best ways. 74 years, well spent, of a life lived and loved to the fullest.

Surviving is her husband, Paul Napier; daughters, Angela Rathbone (Dale) and Tammy Lee (Ryan); son, Kevin Shook (Kim); grandchildren, David, Jesse (Heather), BreeAnna (Jeffrey), Dalton, Jace, Brandon, Terra (Robbie), Brittlee (Will), Taylee (Logan), Marlee, Savannah, Soffiah and Jared; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Ryder, Claire, Waylon, Cole, Charlie, Bennett, Aurora, Brooklyn, Makenzie, Quinn, Asa and Lincoln; sisters, Elaine Payne, Kate Bohannon, Sue Laxton Wallace, Martha Underdown and Mary Hopkins; brother, John Worley; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Guestbook

  1. “Hey little sister,” was Betsy’s greeting every time she called me. I will hear that phrase in my mind for a long time. She was the family comedian that kept us laughing at every event. She was the one that was always late, how can she be gone so soon? We will miss her.

  2. What a beautiful tribute to Betsy! Obviously she was a blessing to her family and friends. Sue always spoke so highly and so lovingly of her! For certain her positive influence will missed.

  3. Sincere sympathy to Betsy’s family. I knew her as a child and have not seen her for years. The Worley’s were our neighbors. I’m so sorry for your loss.
