Betty S. Boyd DuVall, 73, of 24 Betty Dr., Leicester, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Memorial Campus Mission Hospitals. Mrs. DuVall was a native of Buncombe Co. and was a daughter of the late Tom and Gladys McElreath Worley. Mrs. DuVall was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Morris Boyd, who died in 1996; sister, Barbara Wahl, who died in 2001; and brother, the Rev. Bill Worley, who died in 1994. Mrs. DuVall worked at Mars Manufacturing for 20 years. She was a member of Jones Valley Baptist Church, and also attended Burgins Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. DuVall is survived by her husband, the Rev. Charles Joseph DuVall; daughters, Sharon B. Fox, of Elloree, SC, and Susan B. Cope and husband Michael, of Marshall; son, James Michael Boyd and wife Terri, of Leicester; step-daughter, Norma Jean Murphy, of Black Mountain; step-sons, Jerry DuVall and wife Wanda, of Morganton, Charles Allen DuVall and wife Lucy, of Greensboro, and Daren W. DuVall, of the home; brother, the Rev. Charles Worley, of Maiden; grandchildren, Christy Bailey, Tangie Boyd, Nicholas Fox, and Sheletha King; seven step-grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. DuVall will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Shebah Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Rhinehart, Kenneth Rhinehart, and Roy McPeters officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens, with the Rev. Ricky Wolfe officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Contributions may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses at 24 Betty Dr., Leicester, NC 28748.

  1. C.J. We are so sorry for the loss of Betty. I remember loving Betty all my life. I am a neice of Margaret and Bill Worley. I have heard you preach God’s wonderful word many times. Our heart goes our to you and our prayers are with you and all of the family.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Words can not express anything to give you comfort, only the knowledge that God is good and his grace is sufficient for all you have to go thru, tho you may not see it at the time. The one thing that kept me going when my mom died was I would pray constantly, and tell myself I will never have to do this again. We love you and are praying for you and the family. Angie and Roger

Sending our love and prayers to all of you.Betty and I were friends in school and out I spend several nights at the Worley house.I grew up on Dix Creek and worked some at Georgetown Grocery store. My husband was Morris uncle.Betty was such a sweet person.she will be missed by all.
