Asheville – Betty Carswell Sims, 58, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Betty was a native of Polk County and a former resident of Hendersonville. She was a member of the Faith Family Church of Asheville and enjoyed writing poetry and drawing. She loved her family and her cat, Zena. Betty is survived by her daughter, Terry L. Coggins of Asheville; her son, Darrin L. Sims, and his wife Melinda, of Asheville and two grandchildren, Justin and Brooke Sims. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Steven Carswell. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday in the Faith Family Church of Asheville, 671 Sand Hill Road, Asheville. The service will be conducted by the Revs. Lynden and Donna Hall. The family will receive friends following the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Asheville Health Care Center for their loving care. Memorials may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

  4. Dear Melinda, Darrin ane Terry,

    I pray that God will comfort you during this time. Betty was my cousin (Polly’s youngest daughter). Although we didn’t see each other a lot, we kept in touch through cards and letters. I’ll always remember how happy it made me to visit her and Dorothy when we were growing up. I look forward to seeing Betty again one day and I pray that you will take comfort knowing she is in a better place now.
