Betty Conner Rogers, 81, of Candler, died on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at The Hermitage in Sylva, after a long illness.
A native of Whittier, Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Eleanor Jane Cooper Conner. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Oscar Lee, Jr., Verlon, and Harold Connor.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Rogers; daughter, Blanche Waugh (Steve); sisters, Sue Connor, Jolena Buchanan, Erma Buchanan, and Mary Buchanan; brother, Joseph Lyle Connor; granddaughters, Laurrell Smith, and Elizabeth Nicole Waugh; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Rogers will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Robert Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

I have many fond memories of Aunt Betty, most of all her honesty and good heart. Our prayers go to family and friends in the weeks ahead. I know you are happy in Heaven today with dad ,grandma, papaw, uncle Verlin , uncle Harold, and the brother you never knew born before you.

I am so sorry for the loss of aunt Betty. I have fond memories of her, she always had a good sense of humor and made people laugh. She loved her family with all of her heart and tried to be good to everyone that she knew. She will be missed dearly.
