Betty Cooper Ruppe, 86, of 70 Propst Road, Candler, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Mrs. Ruppe was born in Horry Co., SC, and was a daughter of the late P. Clyde and Victoria Richardson Cooper. She was married to the late Robert Lenwood Ruppe and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Ruppe; brothers, Herman, Mayo and Lavarne Cooper; sisters, Grace Cooper and Lunette Skipper. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Joyce R. Goode of Candler; one son, Tony L. Ruppe of Franklin; three sisters, Louise Treadway and Virgil Martin of Gresham, SC, and Shirley Jackson of Conway; two brothers, Clyde Cooper, Jr. and Parmalee Cooper, of Conway; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday at West Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Rutherfordton with the Revs. Keith Hutchinson and Everette Haney officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 50 Rice Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
