Hendersonville ~ Betty Jean Blaise, 74, of Fletcher, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Hendersonville.
A native of Cortland County, NY, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruth Schouten Baker. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruthie Sherman and three brothers, Edward Bud Baker, George Baker and Lewis Baker.
Mrs. Blaise, who was of Indian decent, will always be remembered as a loving mother who was very proud of and passionate about her country. She loved her coffee as well as animals of all types. She was a very loving person to all who knew her and her family was her life.
She is survived by one daughter, Lorie Preston and her husband, Dean, of Fletcher; two sons, Ray Purdy of Texas and Mark Purdy and his wife, Kathy, of Clearmont, FL; seven grandchildren, Robert Teeter, Rachell Janis, Brandon Purdy, Jacob Purdy, Raymond Purdy, Nichole Purdy and Sarah Purdy; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Mary Head of Dade City, FL and Audrey VanGorder of Hendersonville and one brother, Ralph Baker of Central Square, NY.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date at the home of Lorie and Dean Preston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
Second husband Harold was a great man uncle also. She is is heaven with my mom. I’ll miss you Aunt Betty, but, I hold onto great memories.
