Asheville - Betty Jean Webb, 84, died Sunday, April 4, 2010. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Nanie Hoover Whitaker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Van Webb in 1992 and a son, Ronnie Webb in 1981. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Webb Gay of Lake Lure; two sons, Gary Webb of Asheville and Jack Van Webb, Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fla. and seven grandchildren, Philip and Kristen Sorrells; Joshua Sult; Colby and Tyler Webb; Lindsey Ellis and Angela Lyda. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Reverend Steve Brockwell. Interment will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

    We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Time really passes quickly. We do want you all to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have many fond memories of you all from the Biltmore Holiness Temple. We now have a home in Daytona Beach and still have our home in Fairview. We go between homes but still remember all the good times in Asheville. May you find comfort in knowing you will see her again. We love you all.
