Betty Jo Payne

Arden- Betty Jo Roberson Payne, 88, of Arden, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Alice Whitted Roberson. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband Clarence Homer Payne, Jr., who died in 2014; two sisters, Kathleen Constance and Mildred Dowdle as well as two brothers, James and George Roberson.

Betty retired from Taylor Instruments in Arden.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Cole of Chattanooga, TN and Vickie McMillan (Robbie) of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Jeanette Reeves of Asheville and Gearleen Brown of Leicester; two granddaughters, Allyson Cole and Whitney Brown as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that you send a donation in Betty’s memory to the Skyland Fire Department.
