Betty Ledbetter, age 76, of Case Cove Road went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18th, 2014. She was a native of Dunn, NC and a 44 year resident of Candler, NC. She was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. She was one of 9 children and the last of her siblings. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend John Wilkins in December 1982. She is survived by her loving husband Howard Ledbetter of the home, son Danny Wilkins and wife Anita, son Jerry Wilkins and wife Lorna, daughter Vicki Teague and husband Phil, Tim Ledbetter and wife Rebecca, Angie Barrett and husband Kyle, Brad Ledbetter and wife Sherry. She has 13 grandchildren: Justin Wilkins and wife Allison, Lindsay Swain and husband Jesse, Zach Wilkins and wife Elizabeth, Ashton Wilkins, Jarred Teague, Jessy Wilkins, Jensyn Teague, Ashlee Smiddy, Mackenzie Barrett, Morgan Barrett, Kylie Ledbetter, Emilee Ledbetter, and Colin Ledbetter. She also has two great-grandchildren, Grady Swain and Brantley Wilson. There are also a number of precious nieces, nephews, cousins, their children, and more friends than can be named. She was a fine Christian woman that lived a full life of loving God, her family, friends, and everyone that she came in contact with. She was so unselfish and giving, always putting everyone before her own needs. She has truly been an angel sent here by God to make our lives and this world a better place. We are going to miss her dearly, but know without a doubt that she is reuniting in heaven with those that have gone before her. Visitation will be held at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. A 4:00 p.m. funeral service will follow at the church and will be officiated by the Reverend James Walker and the Reverend Ian Walker. The family will also be available after the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the John G. Wilkins Memorial Building Fund at New Morgan Hill Baptist Church, 370 Lake Drive, Candler, NC 28715. There will be a private family burial on Friday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  21. Dear family,
I worked with Betty at Estes Elementary in the cafeteria years ago. She was a wonderful lady with a great witness for Christ. I enjoyed working with her and considered her my friend. Although we had not seen each other in a while I thought of her often and have good memories of her. You are all in my prayers during this time. Thankful for the assurance of a better place if we know Christ. May God bless each of you.

  22. Heartfelt sympathy for the Ledbetter/Wilkins families. May our Lord give you comfort and strength in the days ahead.
Carolyn Rector (friend of Marvin and Nancy Ledbetter)

  23. Dear Family: Two things will always be among my favorite memories of Betty. For years I bought chocolate covered pecans from her to give as Christmas gifts? As Wayne and I gave these, we always shared that Betty sold these and gave the money she made to her church. It made the gift very special.

The last time I saw her was at Justin and Allison’s wedding. She was frail but looked beautiful. As she was leaving, I noticed each one of her grandchildren get up from their seat, make their way to her to tenderly kiss her and tell her goodbye. It was such a touching moment from someone just watching and I thought, what a legacy of love….. She left a beautiful and loving family to carry on that legacy.

We are thinking about all of you today.
    Love, Wayne and Sue Campbell

  24. Dear Anita, Danny and the Wilkins Family,
