Betty Lois Burnette Collins, 82, of Candler, NC, went to rest in Jesus’ arms Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
Betty was born in Harrisburg, PA, to the late James Thomas and Marion Violet Burnette. She grew up in Asheville, and resided in Okeechobee, FL for the last 8 years. She was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School.
Betty held many different positions through her life-she was a stay at home mom, CNA and a counselor at The Guidance Clinic in the Keys, FL, where she learned as much as she taught. Betty loved God, fishing, reading historical novels, her precious dog Mandy, and most of all she loved her family with all her heart.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ron Collins; daughters, Mary Price of Asheville, Andrea Baker of Candler, Kimberly (Jamey) Matthews of Old Fort, and Leslie Mason of Frankfort, KY; son, Tom Barnes of Candler; step-children, Michael and Chrystal Collins, and Brandy and Bruce Daley, all of TX; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); one great-great grandchild on the way; and her brother, Bill Burnette and his family of Raleigh, NC.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
