Betty Lou Ballard, 90, of Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, died Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Highland Farms Health Care Center.
A native of Middletown, Ohio, Mrs. Ballard was the daughter of the late Clyde and Leona Greer Smith and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Woodrow Ballard, who died in 1990. She had worked as Executive Director for the American Red Cross and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Judith Lee Ballard of Raleigh; her son, Paul D. Ballard and wife Kathy of Weaverville; granddaughters, Carter and Caroline Ballard.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Butler County Memorial Park in Middletown, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to Highland Farms Social Activities, 200 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
We will miss you, Mrs. Ballard. I always enjoyed playing the piano for you.
