Betty Rhew Stevens, 88, of Asheville, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Asheville Health Care.
A native of Buncombe County she was a daughter to the late Joseph P. and Lillian Miller Rhew. She was a member of East Asheville UMC where she served as a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was also a member of the ladies quilting program. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Lee Stevens.
Survivors include her sons, Don Stevens of Asheville, and Wayne Stevens (Cindy) of Arden; grandsons, Jon and Andrew; great grandchildren, Sophie and Jet; brother, Ken Rhew of Fairview.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sky View Memorial Park. Rev. James Lamb will officiate.

We have a Sunday morning church service at Asheville Health Care. Betty was very faithful attending. Such a sweet person, she always had a smile, testimony and sometimes surprised us with a song. We are definitely going to miss her. Our prayers are with all her family which she loved very much.
Our Hearts are sad with the passing of my loving aunt Betty.I know in our heart she is in the loving arms of our lord Jesus Christ and at peace and rejoicing being in Heaven.I will always cherish all my loving memories spending time with her as I was growing up.
We loved our visits with her at the Asheville Health Care facility,she always had a beautiful smile, her laughter was so contagious and always a blessing seeing her being happy.We cherished and looked forward to her hugs and kisses. We rejoice in her life.
So saddened to hear of your loss Don & Ken. I didn’t know her personally but know you will miss her so. God’s comfort & peace be with all of you as we know one day you all shall be with her again. My prayers are with you.
