Betty Yates Guthrie, 76, a beloved mother and wife, rose with angels wings to be with the Lord on Friday, May 1, 2015.
A native of Fresno, CA, Mrs. Guthrie was a daughter of the late Cliff and Elsie Yates.
Mrs. Guthrie worked at Ball Brothers for 33 years. In her free time, she loved to passionately cheer on her children and later on her grandchildren at their many sporting events.
Mrs. Guthrie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Guthrie; sons, Ralph Guthrie, Jr. and wife Diane, of Charleston, SC, and Mike Guthrie and wife Angela, of Candler; grandchildren, Chad Guthrie and Kindal Guthrie Boyle, of Charleston, Rocky Guthrie, of Wilmington, NC, Justin Guthrie, of Charleston, and Chris and Rachel Pegg, of Candler; great-granddaughters, Lainey Guthrie, of Charleston, and Addi Pegg, of Candler; and sister, Mildred Yates.
A memorial service for Mrs. Guthrie will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with Kevin Bennett officiating.
Her family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ralph – Mike and Family- So sorry to hear that Betty had passed. She was such a loving person. She will be missed. Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain. Keeping u all in our thoughts and prayers.
Mr. Guthrie–sorry to hear of Mrs Guthrie passing. She was a nice lady who always treated me like one of her own.
