The Rev. William Robert Anderson, Sr., known by many who loved him as "Bill," "Bill Sr.," "Billy-Bob," and "Fauth" went home to be with the lord at the age of 84, on November 3, 2014 at Baptist Hospital, Winston Salem NC.
Bill resided in North Wilkesboro at the Wilkes County Adult Assisted Living Facility.
He was born on October 19, 1930, in Knoxville, TN, to the late William Rawls and Mary Campbell Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Seale Anderson, formerly of Gloster, MS, and sister, Nancy Jo Anderson.
He grew up in Hattiesburg, MS, and attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, in Hattiesburg. He then attended and graduated from Colombia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, where he received his Masters of Divinity.
He was a retired pastor from the Asheville Presbytery, and had served as Chaplain of the VA Hospital in Oteen, NC. Rev. Anderson himself was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Bill was an accomplished organist and Master Gardener who also loved to cook, and loved spending time with his special little "Kitty Kat" as he called him. He loved to attend church services, gatherings and any place where people were around, especially family night suppers. Always on the go, he would help anyone whenever they called upon him.
He is survived by his four children, Mary Karen Anderson Blake (Roger), of Waukee, IA, Sandra Seale Anderson Adams (Dr. Alec) of Aberdeen, SD, Tammy Jane Anderson Morris (Bradley), of Monument, CO, William Robert Anderson Jr. (Danni), of Raleigh, NC; 10 grandchildren, Mary Kristen Blake Webb (Donny), Trisha Ruth Blake Gross (Lee), Ashley Elizabeth Anderson, Julie Margaret Adams, Andrea Jane Adams, Alexandria Moriah Adams, Anna Grace Adams, Charles Christian Morris, Kelsey Jane Morris, Courtney Paige Morris and one great-grandchild, Emma Jane Gross.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at Oak Forest Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Morgan officiating.
Please send memorials in his honor to Oak Forest Presbyterian Church, 880 Sand Hill Rd., Asheville, NC 28806 or to the family to assist his granddaughter, Mary Kristen Blake, with the cost of extensive medical treatments of a very aggressive form of breast cancer.

Bill served as an interim and/or guest minister at our church, West Asheville Presbyterian, on a number of occasions. Of all the ministers I’ve known during a lifetime of Presbyterianism (80 years), Bill was one of my all-time favorites. He was a wonderful gentleman.
