Fairview ~ Harry William "Billy" Fox, Jr., 59, of Fairview passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Fox was born in Buncombe County to the late Lucille Searcy and Harry William Fox. He attended A.C. Reynolds High School and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a veteran where he served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Fox and Thomas Fox. He is survived by a daughter, Christie Myers of Fairview; four sisters, Raye Bane and husband R.F. of Hendersonville, Phyllis Earley and husband Frank of Fairview, Betty Weiss and husband Gordon of Belton, Texas and Margaret Prewett and husband Lanny of Monroe, Georgia; three grandchildren, Aubrey Collins and Katie and Tyler Myers; a sister-in-law, Georgia Fox of Fairview and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, September 1, 2008 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Rev. Ed Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Stan Dotson, 1095 Brush Creek Circle Road, Fairview, NC 28730.

  1. So sorry to hear of the passing of Billy. It seems your family has more their share of loosing love ones, in the past two years. But, God makes no mistakes and Billy is with Him and Rich and Tommy.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that my heart is broken as well Billy was my true love for 30+ years. We shared many phone conversations and EMails through the years. Christie I am sorry you have lost father he loved you very much. I pray that God will be with you in days and years to come and give you comfort and peace. Phyllis know that Billy loved you dearly and couldn’t have made it without your help.

  5. Christie, I am the Diane that used to live by you in Fairview on N. Becky Lane. I did not know Billy was your dad but I knew him years ago and I used to work with your Aunt Margaret. Billy was a great guy and I am so sorry for your loss and you are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

  7. Willie, I will never forget the hug you gave me before you left us. It will always be in my heart and mind. Your sisters and family will miss you more than anyone will ever know.   8. To my Uncle Willie, I have had several long and sad days knowing I would no longer get to see you. Your passing has put a big void in my life, but I am so thankful I was with you the week before you left us. The last thing you said to me was OK buckwheat, and smiled real big. Derek and Tyler miss you deeply, you was such a big part of our lives. I know that grandma was sitting at heavens gate waiting for you to come thru. Uncle Willie you have brought so much love and happiness into my life, and I know one day I will see you again. We are all taking care of mama, since she took care of you for so many years.I know that is what you would have wanted. I love you so very much and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you. I Love you Willie…..
