Billy F. Robertson, son of the late John Conley and Mattie Bovendor Robertson, left this earthly life and passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 12, 2009, at the age of 80. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Vanda; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Anitra Robertson, of Wake Forest; daughter and son-in-law, Joanie and Greg Murdock, of McKinney, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Miles Bosworth, of Asheville; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Gloria Roberts, of Mocksville; his step-daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Cliff Sweatt, of China Grove; and his step-daughter, Linda Kluttz, of Concord. The Lord also gave him nine precious grandchildren, Jennifer Donati, Heather Harris, Bonnie Kluttz, Ian Murdock, Josh Murdock, Hollie Roberts, Mitchell Roberts, Austin Robertson, and Allison Robertson; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Robertson was born in Winston-Salem, and had retired from BASF and American Enka, where he had worked as a machine mechanic for 35 years. He was also a skilled wood craftsman and a charter member of the Buncombe Co. Rescue Squad. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home with Revs. Jerry Young and Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the CarePartners Post Polio Support Group, P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813, or to CarePartners Hospice at the same address.

  2. All of us have known Bill for a long time as our neighbor, and we will all miss him sadly. Our dad and Bill had some wonderful times together through all the years…we will miss him……condolences to all of the family
