Blair Dean Coin Cathey, 91, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021.

Blair Dean was born in Gastonia, NC to the late Cecil and Pauline McCall Coin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Cathey, infant daughter, Annette Cathey, and by all her siblings.

Mrs. Cathey worked at American Enka for many years and worked for many years assisting Dr. Robert Martin, DDS, in Candler. She was proud to be a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hominy Valley, and was also a dedicated member of Pole Creek Baptist Church for many years.

Mrs. Cathey is survived by her daughter, ReneƩ Rogers (Darius); son, Terry Cathey (Donna); granddaughter, Mandy LeeAnn Brown; great-grandchildren, Cassie Denise Brown and Veston Edwards Brown; cousins, Shirley Robinson and Peggy Harbor; and many other family members.

The funeral service for Mrs. Cathey will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The Rev. Dennis Thurman and Pastor Ben Heise will officiate. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
