Bluford Obe Surrett

Bluford O. Surrett, 98, of 78 Hog Eye Road, Leicester, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at his home. Mr. Surrett was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Commodore and Julie Bradburn Surrett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Lottie King Surrett, who died April 11, 2002, and by two sisters and five brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Louise Ball of Leicester and Pauline Evans of Warner Robbins, GA; two sons Bob Surrett of Canton and Bruce Surrett of Leicester; a sister Annie Freeman of Leicester; a brother Silas Surrett of Leicester; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gillespie officiating. Burial will be at Paynes Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
