A native of Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Emma Tietz. She had lived in Asheville for 17 years.
Surviving are her husband, Jim Mills; two daughters, Karen Perez and her husband Martin, and Cheryl Jackson and her boyfriend Bill; five sons, Glen Jackson and his wife Christy, Jerry Jackson, Jimmy Mills, Jr. and his wife Noele, Joseph Jackson and his girlfriend Sandra, and Ricky Jackson; one sister, Florence Adams; one brother, Fred Tietz; and 24 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 5:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
