Bobby Gene Plemmons, 67, of Leicester, died on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. Raised in Madison Co., Mr. Plemmons was a son of the late Odis and Geneva Rice Plemmons. Mr. Plemmons was a graduate of Marshall High School. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mr. Plemmons retired from Harmony Motors in May, 2012, after over 44 years as Parts Manager. Mr. Plemmons was a member of Bell United Methodist Church and served the church in several capacities. In his spare time he enjoyed serving his community in various ways, including being Youth League Coach and participating in the Buncombe Co. Fair and North Carolina Mountain State Fair. He was also a member of several horse and livestock-related clubs and associations. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and friends, taking care of his animal companions, gardening, and driving cars, tractors, and four-wheelers. Mr. Plemmons is survived by his wife of 36 years, Traci Hawes Plemmons; sons, Timothy Shane Plemmons, Austin Thomas Plemmons, and Logan Tyler Plemmons; sister, Sandra Hager and husband Bill; brother, Danny Plemmons and wife Dawn; and special family and friends, Leslie Hawes, Mitch Hawes, Sherry Bradburn, Heather Ramsey, Paul Reneau, and Sandra Plemmons. A memorial service for Mr. Plemmons will be on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with Rev. Erin Michelle Weaver officiating. A visitation will follow from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that memorials be made to the Asheville Humane Society, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville NC 28806, to Bell United Methodist Church, 17 Mayrand Rd., Leicester, NC 28748, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 356 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, NC 28801, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about Bobby. He was absolutely a great friend to have. Never had nothing bad to say about anybody, always had a smile on his face & always had a helping hand to lend. He was a great husband, a great daddy, and a great friend.
    He would have been the best grandpa to the little on the way. That he has done met & is spoiling routine.
