Asheville ~ Bobby Paul Penland, 71, of 110 concord Road, Asheville, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Penland was the son of the late Ralph and Gussie Payne Penland. He was the owner and operator of Bob’s Landscaping Service and attended Sunny View Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Watkins Penland of Asheville; a daughter, Sheila Olvera of Hendersonville; four sons, Randy and Daryl Penland of Asheville, Mark Penland of Kernersville, NC and Bobby Penland of Kingsport, TN; 20 grandchildren; two sisters, Midge Reynolds of Swannanoa and Pat Reece of Asheville; two brothers, Richard Penland of Arden and Pete Penland of Candler; special family friends, Bob and Connie Dillon of Fairview. A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at Penland Family Cemetery on Concord Rd with Rev. Donald Hare officiating. The family will receive at the home on 110 Concord Road, Asheville, Tuesday evening.

  1. I now know what it means to ‘regret’ lost time….I never really got to know Bob, not like I should have being one of his grandaughters, but I know his presence lives on in his son, my dad, Mark Penland. I wish the entire family well, and offer my deepest sympathies in this loss
