Bobby Ray Johnson, 84, of Pinewood Pl, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his home. A native of Knoxville, TN, he was a son of the late William R. and Lillian Johnson. He was also preceded in death by sisters Effie Snow and Blanche Folden, and by a brother, Gene Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran having served during WWII. He retired from Magnavox having worked as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of American Legion Post #2. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Johnson; daughters Brenda Francisco and husband Roger of Largo, FL, and Bobbie Childress and husband Tony of Asheville; grandchildren William E. Zimmermann, Kimberly Glasgow, and Jessica Childress; and by great-grandchildren Brooke, Loren, and Madisyn. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011, with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 514 Daniels St., #109, Raleigh, NC 27605.

    We were saddened to learn of Bob’s passing. I workded with Bob for fifteen years and enjoyed many retiree breakfasts with him. He was a joy to be around and always kept me up to date on many computer e-mails. Please know that his priorities were his Lord, family and country. He always spoke fondly of you, his daughters and grandchildren. We will miss him and pray the Lord will comfort all of you during these difficult times.
