Bonnie Freeman Rhodes, 87, of Edgewood Road, Candler, died Sunday, December 26, 2004, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Jackson County and was a daughter of the late William Robert and Clifford Sanders Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband General Lester Rhodes who died December 26, 1987, a sister Edna Armstrong and Edna's husband Clyde. She was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, James R. “Bob” Rhodes and his wife Dot of Candler; two grandchildren, Sharon Whisenhunt and her husband Murray and Nancy Lankford and her husband Smith; one great-granddaughter Ellissa Lankford; a sister Hazel Reagan and her husband Howard of Whittier and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Wesley Austin officiating. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at 231 Monte Vista Road. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or memorials be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 227 Oak Hill Road, Candler, NC 28715.
